retro bathing suits Era costumbre cuando comenzaron los \"baños de ola\" que las señoras y los caballeros bajaran a la playa vestidos y en las casetas de baño, se cambiaran el atuendo por un bañador. He aqui a Lady Ãyden y a Ariadne de Baskerville recreando el ambiente que se vivÃa hacia 1900. A mediados de siglo XIX, siguiendo las corrientes médicas higienistas y su utilización como parte de recreo entre la alta burguesÃa, surge en las playas españolas y europeas, la práctica de los baños de ola. La complejidad de los trajes de baño obligaban que los cambios de ropa tuvieran que hacerse en unas casetas instaladas en las playas a tal efecto y equipadas para la ocasión. En un principio, las casas para los baños de mar eran muy modestas y tenÃan un carácter provisional. Sin embargo, esta nueva terapia de baño de oleaje fue cada vez más practicada provocando que las casas de baño comenzaran a construirse con mejores materiales. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1900´s gowns. Mid-XIX, as a response to new pro-hygienist trends in medicine and their recreational use by the well-to-do bourgeoisie of the time, a new activity appears in Spanish and other European coastlines: the \"baños de ola\" - \"wave baths,\" literally. This seaside activity brings about a great change in social and cultural uses during the hot season, which in turn propels the creation of new buildings, such as beach changing booths and seaside resorts, and a new piece of clothing: the swimming suit. Initially, bathing houses were quite modest and had a merely provisional character.
